About DropRandom

Thanks for dropping by.

DropRandom started from a simple frustration: deciding things fairly shouldn't require an argument. Whether you're picking a winner, assigning roles, or settling a friendly debate — we wanted it to be instant, fun, and completely fair. No downloads, no accounts, no fuss.

Why we built it

Every team, classroom, and friend group hits the same wall: who decides? We built DropRandom because the best tool for fair decisions should also be the easiest one to use. Open it, type your list, and go.

How to use it

What makes DropRandom different?

Global & Multilingual

Available in 9 languages. No matter where you are, DropRandom speaks your language.

Lightning Fast & Free

No sign-up, no account, no fees. Open the site and go. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is sent to any server.

100% Private

Your lists stay on your device. We never store or see what you type.

How DropRandom works

DropRandom is a small set of static pages. There is no backend, no database, no login. The list you type, the winner that is drawn, and the ladder result you see are all computed in your browser. When you close the tab, the data is gone. We never see it. The site is served securely, works offline once the page has loaded, and can also be installed as a free app.

Our principles

Privacy first. Your data stays on your device. We never track what you type into the tools.

Fair by design. Every entry has the same chance of being picked. There is no backdoor and no one is favoured.

Free, forever. No accounts, no paywalls, no premium tier. The site is supported by display advertising that you can opt out of personalising.

Multilingual by default. Nine languages today, with more on the way.

What is next

A spin-the-wheel mode so the picker has a third visual style. Tournament brackets for elimination-style draws. Saveable lists for repeat draws. Shareable result snapshots. All under the same principles: privacy, fairness, free.

Who runs DropRandom

DropRandom is built and maintained by the DropRandom team, a small group of independent developers and writers based mainly in East Asia, working on the site in our spare time. We take no outside funding, we do not sell user data, and we have no CEO. For correspondence please use the address below.

If you would like to contribute (translation review for one of the nine supported languages, ideas for new guides, bug reports, code patches), we would love to hear from you.

Operating details

DropRandom has been served from the same domain since 2025. The site is a collection of static pages — there is no backend, no user database, and no analytics on the lists you type into the tools.

The page templates use Outfit and Inter from Google Fonts, share-button icons from the Simple Icons open-source set, country-flag icons from FlagCDN, and a small in-house celebration effect for the random-picker result reveal. The historical content in our two articles draws on public-domain sources, including the Samguk Yusa, Aristotle's Politics, and standard literature on the history of fair-decision games.
